Kavita had given her heart to the Lord and felt there was no obvious change in her: “I still look the same way and I don’t feel any different; why then did Raj tell me that I would be a new person after giving my heart to Christ?” Then she heard a little still small voice in her heart, which said, “You are…My daughter, you are a new creation; you may not feel like it, but you are! Study the Bible to see your true self!”
That experience got her studying the Word and knowing more of what the Lord Jesus had done for her salvation. The only way you can tell what Jesus did for you is by studying the Word. If you read Ephesians 2:4-6, you‘ll see that, “…God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” When Jesus died, we died with Him. When He was buried, we were buried with Him. When God raised Him from the dead, we were raised together with Him. We were in Him in His death, burial, and resurrection.
Romans 4:24-25 shows us: “…Jesus our Lord…was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.” We were justified, not because He died but by His being raised from the dead. He was raised from the dead, a new person; He was born again. So today, Jesus heads up the new creation. The Bible says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). This new creation has no past; there’s no sin in him. Jesus’ resurrection gave you a brand-new life. You’re not the one that sinned; that’s the “old you,” and he’s dead. Hallelujah! A new you was born at the resurrection. Glory to God!
